CHARLIE SPIVAK
researched by Music Librarian Christopher Popa
Arrangements, photographs, newspaper clippings, awards and proclamations, telegrams, legal documents, programs, magazines pages, a yearbook, and even identity documents are among the items related to Charlie Spivak which are held by the Furman University in Greenville, SC. They were donated in January 1983 by Spivak's widow, his third wife, "Dubby" Lambert Spivak and are now held in the University's Special Collections and Archives.
There are a total of 31 boxes (or 36.54 linear feet) of materials.
Although many are not complete or are the score only (rather than the parts), the charts appear to be from his big band, starting back in the early '40s and going into the late '50s.
Other memorabilia, such as the 1945 Paramount Theatre program shown below (note the mis-spelling of Jo Stafford's first name), is in the hands of private collectors.
