Special Collections and Archives
RAY McKINLEY
researched by Music Librarian Christopher Popa

The official repository of Ray McKinley materials is the Archives Center at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.  Their "Ray McKinley Music and Ephemera Collection" consists of "music, scores, sideman books, photographs, correspondence, news clippings and magazine articles, business records, awards, audio and videotapes, 45 rpm commercial recordings, and miscellaneous biographical notes."

A small collection of items from clarinetist Peanuts Hucko, who worked with McKinley in orchestras led by Will Bradley and Glenn Miller, as well as in McKinley's own band during 1946-47, is held by the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY.  Included are clippings, magazine articles, and some correspondence.

Other memorabilia, such as the photo of drummer McKinley with bassist Delmar Kaplan, shown below, is held by private collectors.
