Placing photos of famous leaders on the covers helped to sell the sheet music by capitalizing on the popularity of that leader. Though songs often are associated with a specific leader, items with an * include neither a cover photo of them nor any reference to their name. Conversely, in many cases, there is no surviving proof that specific leaders did, in fact, perform every song listed under their name.
