"FEEDBACK AND FOLLOW-UP"
RE: CHARLIE SPIVAK
Christopher Popa notes:
After I wrote my biographical sketch of Charlie Spivak, I heard from a woman who worked at Ye Olde Fireplace for almost 25 years.  She was employed as a server for several years, then worked in the bar for about 18 years.

"Spivak had been booked at Ye Olde [ Fireplace ], he liked it so well, the reception was such a great turn-out, he and the owner had a verbal agreement for Spivak to be our house band 6 nights a week, no cover charge. We had many great years.  Reservations had to be made sometimes two wks in advance, folks would drive from Columbia, S.C., Atlanta, Charleston, and Charlotte, N.C.  For several years in November we taped the evening to be televised . . . on T.V. for New Years eve.  We gave out hats, horns, etc.  People thought the show was live, LOL [ "laugh out loud" ], calls would come in asking for certain tunes.  I'll never forget the great times, and hard work.  Our dining room held approx. 325 people, so it was a really big shew."
